Is it June 8th yet?

It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since we've moved to Arizona.  We arrived here in June where the days here were averaging about 106*.  We didn't think the weather was too bad, considering I heard it could get much hotter here.  Well it didn't take long for the temps to sky rocket.  I remember taking a picture of the thermostat in my car when it was 113*.  Ugh!
We moved to a community that has all major conveniences close by.  Target is only about a mile away.  It doesn't get better than that.  LOL
We brought home this cute little fluff of love in July.  Her name is Daisy Mae!  She's so sweet and ornery all at the same time.

We've visited some of the touristy places in Arizona.  One very hot day in July we drove to Apache Junction and Superstition Mountain.  There was a little museum close by that used to be the hot spot for filming western movies.  This little church was used in an old Elvis movie "Charro".

Down the road is Goldfield Ghost Town.

I don't have a picture on my computer, but we "hiked" White Tank Mountain.  While walking we came across a pretty sizable tarantula right off the trail.  bleh!

When we moved here I told my hubby the ONE thing I wanted to do while living here was visit Tombstone. Just recently, before he started traveling to Las Vegas for his job, we loaded everybody in car drove out there. Of course we visited the O.K. Corral and watched a reenactment.
We went on a stagecoach ride. This is me and my goofy son.

We had such a good time.  It was perfect time as far as weather goes.  Still relatively mild out.

Now we're preparing to move...again.  This should be our last move for quite a while.  We're moving to...

I know, I know.  You wouldn't want to live there.  I've heard it said lots of times.  However, this is where the job offer was for my husband after he retired from the Navy.  The deal has always been to train in Arizona and move to Las  Vegas a year later.  It's going to be only 4.5 hours away from our families.  We haven't lived that close to our families for a 11 years.  That was the driving factor in our decision to make the move.  I have to trust God in that we'll be okay.  So...we found the perfect house...

It's in a gated community, in a neighborhood with only 9 houses in it.  The access street is quiet with horse properties.  You would never know this neighborhood is here unless you were driving to one of the horse properties.  I think we'll be pretty happy here.  I am so excited!
So, what makes this house so wonderful?  It's a ranch style (there's a lot of 2 stories here), 3 car garage, 5 bedrooms, nice size front porch, RED doors, butlers pantry, drop off station, big laundry room, big master walk in closet, a door from one of the bathrooms to the backyard(great for backyard parties), a big covered back patio with access from the main part of the house, master bedroom and that bathroom., and RV parking...just to name a few.LOL
I'll post pictures when we move in.  We're scheduled to close the 8th of June(notice my title).  I can't wait to get in and decorate!
Well, this post was a lot longer than I anticipated.  I hope you all have a good week.
love, Jeanette

The Apple Tree

While we were preparing to leave Nebraska, I was worried about finding my next new favorite place to shop in our new area. I asked on A Primitive Place if anybody knew of a place in AZ that wood be what a girl like me was looking for. Well- one person answered with an awesome suggestion. It is called The Apple Tree. Girls, when I finally made the trip to this store and walked inside the door, it was instant love. I was like a little kid at a toy store. I wanted 1 of everything. It was so much fun to just walk around. In the back of the shop is a section of stuff that must be there on consignment. I found a platter that matched the dishes that I started collecting over the summer. This platter and a copy of A Primitive Place magazine are the only 2 things I walked out of there with. I was trying to be good, but I had my husband with me, too. For Christmas my dear, sweet husband came back to this shop, all my himself, to buy me a gift certificate. He also walked around the nearby antique stores and found more of my dishes(i'll post more on this later). So here is what my gift certificate went to...

A cute little gameboard. I'll have a gameroom in the new house where this will look perfect.

A small crock of fake pomegranents. Too bad only 1 pommigranant shows.

The rest... a washboard, wooden bucket, basket, 2 candle holders w/ battery candles, and another crock.

So right now I'm just stocking up on things for the new house. We aren't puting anything on the walls in this house since we know we don't have a lot of time here. I can't wait to be in the new house so I can get everything out to look at until my heart's content.

Also, I'm looking to change the name of my blog. I just don't like the current name at all. I would love some help with this if anybody has any suggestions. Maybe something like My primitive desert home??? I don't know.

Thanks for coming by.

Wowsers! It's been a long time.

I don't think anybody noticed I haven't written in a very long time. I'd post pictures to kind of show what's been going on, but they're on the other computer.
The major event that changed everything was my husband retiring from the Navy. He served his 20 years proundly and it was time to move on.
We FINALLY finished the basement. Again, I wish I could show pictures. We had to hire somebody to come in and finish it. We were just in way over our heads. It turned out great. It was barely finished in time to put the house on the market. What a scary thing to do in this econemy. My husband accepted a job in another state so it was time to move, again. We've been in our current location, the South West desert, for about 7 months now, with 5 more to go. We're going to move 1 more time, then stay put for a while. It's really hard, I'm not going to lie. We had to be here for husband's training before we can move on to our final destination.
My husband and I are in the process of buying a new house in the new city. It will be finished, hopefully, as we get ready to leave here. I am super excited about it. We are going to have a lot of room to spread out. When you have 3 boys, you need that.
I've been kicking abround blog world a bit lately. I've found some new blogs that are super fun to look at. A lot of decorating blogs. Not just prim decor, either. I'm going to try and come up with a way to maybe mix prim and maybe farm decor. I found one blog that was what I might be looking for. It's called Down to Earth Style She has a lot of the rustic style that I like, yet ideas to make it all work in a brand new home.
Well, that's all for tonight. I'll be back sooner than later.
